Top 10 - EST Players in Action, 1/5/16

There were a decent amount of players in action tonight that donned an Empire State Takeover jersey at Union College during the summer. Scores and stats are coming in - here's a quick list of the top 10 performers, both for boys & girls, that I've come across tonight.

Boys

T10.) Jack Spencer (Rhinebeck 2017) finished with 21 points in their 64-42 W over Millbrook.

T10.) All-EST 2nd Team Ty'Jon Gilmore (Watervliet 2016) contributed a game high 25 points in a losing effort, 52-46 to Catholic Central. He's 1 of 17 players in Section II averaging 20 or more PPG - now sitting at 13th with a 20.7 PPG average.

9.) Kevin Townes Jr. (Our Lady of Lourdes 2017) pumped in 20 points - a career high - in a victory, 75-61 over Mahopac.

8.) Kory Bergh (Amsterdam 2016) ran the show for the Rams and contributed a team high 19 points in Amsterdam's 63-40 W over Johnstown. He's tied for 9th in Section II in PPG (22.6).

7.) Two people - teammates - can split this one. 2015 EST MVP Andrew Sischo (Guilderland 2016) dropped a game-high 23 points in their 66-47 W over Averill Park. All-EST 1st Team Mike Wine (Guilderland 2017) added 15 points, along with filling the rebounds, assists, and steals categories up from the point guard spot in the same game. The two combined were the catalysts of just about everything for the Dutch.

6.) All-EST 1st Team Zac O'Dell (Schalmont 2016) led all scorers with 19 points, 13 in the 2nd half, in their 73-51 W over Ichabod Crane. He added 17 rebounds and 4 blocks to the stat line as well.

5.) Coming off a 44 point performance on Monday, All-EST 1st Team Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls 2019) finished with 25 points in a 70-44 W over Hudson Falls. He is now 3rd in Section II in PPG (32.7), 1st in total points (360), and 1st in 3PM (61).

4.) All-EST Honorable Mention Connor McCart (Hoosick Falls 2016) dropped a game high 27 points in their 63-35 W over Greenwich. He's now up to 8th in Section II in PPG (23.3).

3.) Jared D'Aloia (Stillwater 2017) had a game & career high 31 points, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds in their 87-54 W over Tamarac. He also hit 5 threes, a season high.

2.) Output of the night goes to Josh Gregory (Whitesboro 2016), who pumped in a career high 41 points in Whitesboro's 79-59 W over VVS. The 6'4" wing knocked down 5 threes and went 6/6 from the line. This output has catapulted him into the top 10 in scoring in Section III - currently tied for 9th at 22.3 PPG.

1.) The man of the hour is All-EST Honorable Mention Mitchel Wayand (Stillwater 2016). The sharp shooting senior wing finished with 27 points in their 87-54 W over Tamarac, and the final point - the 2nd of a pair at the free throw line with under 1 minute to play - was his ticket to join the 1,000 point club. After a slow start, Wayand pumped in 20 points in the 2nd half to reach the milestone, 7 coming at the free throw line.

Girls

10.) Claire Sehring (Utica Notre Dame 2018) finished with team highs of 16 points & 11 rebounds in their 53-49 L to Proctor.

9.) Becca Townes (Our Lady of Lourdes 2018) contributed 10 points & 8 assists in a runaway W over Mahopac.

8.) Emily Wander (Bethlehem 2017) finished with a game high 17 points in a 75-12 blowout W over Burnt Hills. This sticks right with her average - tied for 15th in Section II at 17.1 PPG.

7.) Lyndsey McCoy (Middleburgh 2017) dropped 18 points in a 61-34 W over Bishop Gibbons. She is maintaining a scoring average of 16.6 PPG (17th in Section II) despite occasionally getting limited minutes due to blowouts, and is shooting 78% from the line (57/73).

6.) All-EST Honorable Mention Abby Fountain (Catholic Central 2016) tied for the team & game high with 16 points in their 64-29 drubbing of Watervliet. This sticks around her scoring average (15.3 PPG), and a couple more made threes increase her season total to 26 - tied for 6th in Section II.

5.) We'll split the difference here. With multiple Division I coaches in attendance - including for her - All-EST 2nd Team Grace Heeps (Columbia 2019) contributed 12 points & 4 assists in a 69-41 W over Mohonasen. In the loss, All-EST 1st Team Saeeda Abdul-Aziz (Mohonasen 2017) - also with coaches in the house - had a team high 22 points (7/8 FT). She's now 4th in Section II in scoring average (21.5 PPG).

4.) Emily Padalino (Albany Academy for Girls 2016) pumped in a game high 25 in what was a few points away from being a massive upset - but ended up in a 49-43 L to Holy Names. Padalino is 2nd in Section II, averaging 28.1 PPG.

3.) A fun game in the Colonial with top performers on each side that were in EST. Maya Nicholas (Cobleskill-Richmondville 2016) had a team high 16 points in their 54-51 W over Fonda-Fultonville. In the loss, Julianna Taylor (Fonda-Fultonville 2017) finished with a game high 21.

2.) Ava Fitzmaurice (Greenville 2018) pumped in a game high 22 points - her 3rd straight 20+ point game - in a 72-40 W over Albany Leadership. She's currently tied for 12th in Section II at 17.8 PPG, and she's leading the section by a long shot with 37 threes made.

1.) Despite the result, the output is far too much to ignore. The night's eye-popper is All-EST Honorable Mention Jordan Hipwell (Ballston Spa 2017), who went off & pumped in a game high 36 points in their 69-54 L to Colonie. This is her 2nd time in as many weeks scoring 36, and these outbursts have pushed her to a tie for 7th in Section II with 20.3 PPG.
