EST Top 10 - And A Lot More - 1/8/16

Friday night means everyone plays! Pretty busy night on the girls' end, but the boys side saw the most action. It shows in the numbers - quite a few really strong performances to pick from. Top 10 for both boys & girls that participated in the Empire State Takeover summer leagues in 2015 - and some other notable performances on each end - below!

Boys

- All-EST Honorable Mention Tyler Champagne (Mount Anthony Union (VT) 2016) and teammate Damon Burgess (Mount Anthony Union (VT) 2016) scored 15 points apiece in their 86-61 rout of Burr and Burton.

- All-EST Honorable Mention Tyler Bertram (Cooperstown 2018) finished with a game high 25 points in their 52-41 W over Frankfort-Schuyler. He's averaging 28.6 PPG, 2nd in Section III.

- Derek Newman (Herkimer 2017) finished with 18 points & 10 rebounds in their 88-51 W over Dolgeville. This sticks with his average of 18.2 PPG.

- All-EST 1st Team Zac O'Dell (Schalmont 2016) went for his average, finishing with a team high 18 points in their 63-54 overtime W over CCHS.

- All-EST Honorable Mention Keenan Loder (Cobleskill-Richmondville 2016) scored a game high 16 points in their 72-53 L to Cohoes.

- Chris Boucher (Fort Edward 2016), the leading scorer in Section II at 35.5 PPG, finished with a game high 29 in their 79-48 W over Bolton/Warrensburg.

- All-EST 1st Team Mike Wine (Guilderland 2017), predominantly the team's floor general, pumped in a game and season high 17 points in their 70-57 W over Albany.

- In Guilderland's win over Albany, 2015 EST MVP Andrew Sischo (Guilderland 2016), a Daemen College commit, contributed 14 points.

- Mike Wynn (Albany CBA 2017) finished with 14 points in their 48-37 L to Colonie.

- All-EST 2nd Team Ty'Jon Gilmore (Watervliet 2016) ended with a team high 24 points in their 80-58 L to Albany Academy.

- Scott Voelker (Mekeel Christian Academy 2016) finished with 16 points in their 68-38 W over Schoharie. That number is exactly what he's averaging for the 10-0 Lions.

- All-EST 2nd Team Matt Higgins (South Glens Falls 2016) finished with a team high 18 points in their 65-51 L to Broadalbin-Perth. With an average of 19.6 PPG, Higgins is in the top 20 in Section II.

- Jared D'Aloia (Stillwater 2017) finished with a team high 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists in their 63-54 W over Mechanicville. With a strong performance this week, D'Aloia's average has bumped up to 15.2 PPG with 28 threes on the season.

- All-EST Honorable Mention Mitchel Wayand (Stillwater 2016) contributed 14 points and a career high 17 rebounds while facing a box & 1 throughout the game. They beat Mechanicville 63-54 to remain undefeated in the Wasaren. Wayand, fresh off of scoring his 1,000th point Tuesday, is 4th in Section II in both PPG (25.6) and threes made (45).

10.) All-EST Honorable Mention Adam Anderson (Saratoga Springs 2017) finished with a game high 23 points in their 69-56 W over Burnt Hills. Anderson, one of the Suburban's top performers this year, is averaging 16.8 PPG.

9.) All-EST Honorable Mention Kobe Lufkin (Argyle 2017) pumped in a game high 28 points in their 87-36 W over North Warren. Lufkin is 2nd in Section II in scoring (34.2 PPG), and maintains the lead in the section in threes made (69).

8.) All-EST Honorable Mention Connor McCart (Hoosick Falls 2016) finished with a game high 26 points in their 59-37 W over Tamarac. McCart is now in the top 10 in Section II in scoring average, sitting at 10th with 22.7 PPG.

7.) All-EST 2nd Team Devin Boyle (Johnstown 2016) got back into a groove, finishing with a game and season high 27 points in their 71-58 W over Hudson Falls. Per Times Union statistics, Boyle is averaging 15.6 PPG with 29 made threes - but two box scores have yet to be reported.

6.) Kory Bergh (Amsterdam 2016) had a game high 31 points in their 83-82 overtime W over Queensbury. The senior averages 23.6 PPG (8th in Section II), and this was his 3rd game scoring 30+ points.

5.) Hameir Wright (Albany Academy 2017) finished with a game high 28 points and 10 rebounds in their 80-58 W over Watervliet. The highly touted prospect, ranked #55 in the ESPN 60 for the Class of 2017, is averaging 19.1 PPG.

4.) Danny Reidell (Northville 2017) sent home a game high 33 points in their 51-41 W over Galway. The junior is 9th in Section II, averaging 23 PPG, and is around 50 points away from reaching the 1,000 plateau.

3.) All-EST 1st Team Joseph Girard III (Glens Falls 2019) pumped in a game high 30 points and 12 rebounds in their 65-53 W over Gloversville. The standout freshman hit 5 threes, increasing his season total to 66 (2nd in Section II), and his 32.5 PPG scoring average is good for 3rd in Section II.

2.) All-EST 2nd Team Tyler Lamport (South Kortright 2017), a freshly minted member of the 1,000 point club, finished with a game high 34 points (15 in the 1st quarter), 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals in their 75-37 W over Downsville.

1.) This one is partially about the performance, partially about the occasion. Louden Porter (Canton 2017) pumped in a game high 30 points in a massive 58-46 W over rival Ogdensburg. The Golden Bears, a team that has largely been in rebuilding mode for the last few years, finally 'slayed the dragon', so to speak. The standout performance & victory over Ogdensburg, who is almost always the top boys team in Section X, is certainly a noteworthy moment.


Girls

- Madi Ryan (Hoosac Valley (MA) 2016) was part of a balanced attack, finishing with 11 points in their 66-39 W over Drury.

- All-EST 2nd Team Natalie DiSalvo (Canton 2016) was part of a very balanced effort, finishing with 11 points - half of her previous average of 22 PPG - in the beatdown of the night, an 84-17 W over St. Lawrence.

- Emily Padalino (Albany Academy for Girls 2016), Section II's 3rd leading scorer at 27.4 PPG, finished with a game high 20 in their 53-35 L to Watervliet.

- Emily Wander (Bethlehem 2017) finished with 10 points in their 40-38 W over Troy, their 2nd road win over the Flying Horses in 6 days. Wander is 15th in Section II, averaging 16.5 PPG.

- In Ballston Spa's L to Shenendehowa, All-EST Honorable Mention Jordan Hipwell (Ballston Spa 2017) finished with 13 points. She's still one of Section II's leading scorers, sitting at 8th (19.7).

- Division II Dominican College bound Samira Sangare (Shenendehowa 2016) and All-EST Honorable Mention Cameron Tooley (Shenendehowa 2018) were strong parts of a very balanced attack, scoring 9 and 8 points respectively in their 80-48 defeat of Ballston Spa.

- Saratoga Springs got 26 points from its very young backcourt, which almost doubled the scoring output from their opposition. Kerry Flaherty (Saratoga Springs 2019) paced the Blue Streaks with 14, and Dolly Cairns (Saratoga Springs 2020) added 12 in their 67-14 thrashing of Burnt Hills. Flaherty leads the team, averaging 13.7 PPG; Cairns is right behind her at 12.8.

T10.) Julianna Taylor (Fonda-Fultonville 2017) finished with a game high 15 points in their 51-29 victory over Ravena. Taylor averages 14.3 PPG on the season.

T10.) Ava Fitzmaurice (Greenville 2018) paced her team with 15 points in their 60-36 W over Cairo-Durham. The sophomore is 11th in Section II, averaging 17.5 PPG, and she comfortably leads the section in threes made with 40 - 2nd place has 31.

9.) Maya Nicholas (Cobleskill-Richmondville 2016) finished with a game high 15 points in their 42-29 W over Cohoes. She's averaging 12.5 PPG on the season; 16 PPG in their recent 3 game win streak.

8.) Ashley Starzyk (Pine Plains 2017) contributed a team high 16 points in their 53-49 W over Millbrook.

7.) Kate Sehring (Utica Notre Dame 2016) finished with a team and season high 16 points & 9 rebounds in their 58-49 W over CVA.

6.) Rebekkah Dean (Mekeel Christian Academy 2018) finished with a game high 17 points in their 53-27 W over Schoharie. Dean averages 13 PPG for the 10-1 Lions.

5.) All-EST 1st Team Saeeda Abdul-Aziz (Mohonasen 2017) finished with a game high 21 points in their 66-34 L to Shaker. The 5'11" standout guard is 5th in Section II in scoring average (21.5 PPG), with 24 threes made.

4.) All-EST Honorable Mention Abby Fountain (Catholic Central 2016) pumped in a game high 20 points in their 53-28 W over Schalmont. This tied a season high for the very steady scorer - she's finished with double digits in 12 of their 13 games. She's currently averaging 15.7 PPG (T-21st in Section II) with 28 threes (T-3rd).

3.) Shyla Sanford (Shaker 2018) pumped in a team high 20 points, including 4 threes, in their 66-34 W over Mohonasen. The sharp-shooting sophomore is averaging 13 per game, and is 10th in Section II with 25 threes made.

2.) All-EST Honorable Mention Liv Allrich (Ballston Spa 2016) had a game high 23 points, doing so efficiently despite going against a box & 1 or triangle & 2 for a large portion of the game, in their 80-48 L to Shenendehowa. Allrich averages 15.6 PPG on the season, and the 5'11" guard has hit 23 threes.

1.) All-EST 2nd Team Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls 2016) topped everyone with 20 points & 17 rebounds in their 52-44 W over Tamarac. Flynn averages a double-double; she's finished with 10+ rebounds in all but 1 game for the Panthers, and is also averaging 14.6 PPG.
