ESTers in Action: Jan 2-3

ESTers in College

- Frankfort-Schuyler grad & Division I St. Bonaventure sophomore Danielle Migliore continued her solid season individually, as she finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists in 39 minutes of action in their 70-64 L to St. Joseph's. This was her 5th straight game playing 30+ minutes and her 5th straight game finishing in double digits. They host UMass on Saturday in hopes of getting their first A-10 win.

- Cohoes grad & Division II Georgian Court freshman Nerea Brajac started on Wednesday and finished with 10 points (5/9 FG), 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in 25 minutes in a 92-68 L to Holy Family. They attempt to get their first CACC win on Saturday when they travel to Delaware to take on Wilmington University.

- Amsterdam grad & Division II Saint Rose freshman Nina Fedullo had perhaps the best game of her young collegiate career, as she got 24 minutes off the bench and contributed 9 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 blocks in a 73-54 victory over St. Michael's. They move to 4-3 in the NE-10 with a road trip to Bentley next on the schedule.

- Glens Falls grad & Division II Queens College freshman Lucy Tougas had another solid game as she's starting to cement her starting role heading into the spring semester. She contributed 4 points, 3 rebounds, and a team high 7 assists in 29 minutes of action in their 89-81 defeat at the hands of NYIT. That was Queens' first loss in ECC play. They're back in action Saturday when they travel to LIU Post.

- Hoosick Falls grad & Division III Sage sophomore Megan Flynn contributed 8 points & 5 rebounds in a starting role, and they held off Nazareth to get a 75-73 W in their first-ever Empire 8 conference game. They'll try to keep the winning streak going on Saturday when Elmira comes to town.

- Middleburgh grad & Division III Alfred University freshman Lyndsey McCoy finished with 9 points & 2 steals in 26 minutes off the bench in their 66-40 setback to Houghton in their Empire 8 opener. She has settled into the 6th man role for the Saxons, having played 15+ minutes in every game and averaging around 25 minutes per game as a freshman. Hartwick comes to town on Friday, and they host Stevens on Saturday.

- Bishop Grimes grad & Division III St. John Fisher sophomore Katy McInerney contributed 5 points off the bench in their Empire 8 opener, a 65-53 victory at Utica College. Katy has carved out a solid role in her second year in a Cardinals uniform, getting solid rotational minutes off the bench. They travel to Elmira in another Empire 8 game Thursday & host Keuka in a non-conference game Saturday.

- Goshen grad & Division III Mount St. Mary freshman Katie Smith, an 845 standout that participated in 2016's fall event, finished with a game high 15 points (9/13 FT), 4 assists, and 3 steals in 27 minutes of play in their 62-51 Skyline victory over Old Westbury. Katie has emerged as a force early in her collegiate career, as she's started all 12 games for her squad and is averaging 7.7 PPG & 3.1 APG in over 25 minutes per game. The 15 points were 2 off her career high, which she achieved in the previous game. The Knights, 5-1 in conference play, travel to USMMA Saturday.

2017 Summer Leaguers

- Jenalyse Alarcon (Troy 2021) contributed a team & season high 18 on Wednesday in their 65-55 setback to Albany. The 2-year varsity starter has averaged 11 PPG in her last 5 outings.

- Dolly Cairns (Saratoga Springs 2020) went off for a game high 22 points on Wednesday in their 49-43 triumph over Colonie. One of Section II's top players at any age or class, she's now one of the area's leading scorers at 18.6 PPG.

- Callie Chevalier (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 2022) finished with a team high 11 points on Wednesday in their 62-53 L to Schuylerville. One of the region's top 8th graders, she's been one of the main scoring options for the 3-5 Spartans.

- Kerry Flaherty (Saratoga Springs 2019, Holy Cross commit) contributed 17 points, knocking down 3 threes, in their 49-43 victory over Colonie. Kerry has been a very steady presence for the Blue Streaks this year, scoring in double figures in all but one game & shooting 86% from the line.

- Erin Fox (Millbrook 2020) continued her strong sophomore campaign with a game high 24 point outing Wednesday, and they handled Red Hook 56-38. Scoring outputs like this have been more of the norm than the exception for the skilled 5'11" F thus far, and she's been a driving force behind their success, as they're ranked #4 in the latest NYSSWA Class C polls.

- Emily Frodyma (Catholic Central 2018) continued her stretch of strong play, finishing with 15 points in their 61-42 W over Schalmont Wednesday. After a slow start in the scoring column, she's went on a tear and averaged 17.5 per game over the last 4 games.

- Madison Graber (Schalmont 2018; SUNY Cortland commit) finished with 17 points, which tied for the team high with younger sister Payton, in their 61-42 setback to Catholic Central. Madison is averaging 16 PPG so far for the 6-3 Sabres.

- Aubrey Halloran (Albany 2018) contributed 15 points in Wednesday's 65-55 victory over Troy. Aubrey has been one of the area's breakout performers of the season, emerging from a rotational role last year to being the Falcons' leading scorer at 12.6 PPG thus far.

- Madison Hoyt (Stamford 2019) contributed 12 points in Wednesday's 62-14 victory over Roxbury. The 6'0" F has been a big contributor in what has been a three-headed monster between her, younger sister Melanie, and Haley Steenland for the undefeated Indians.

- Melanie Hoyt (Stamford 2021) continued her breakout freshman season with a 22 point outing, which tied for the game high, in a 62-14 victory over Roxbury Wednesday. The skilled 6'2" F has surpassed the 20 point mark a few times already this season, and they get a real challenge to end the week with South Kortright on the schedule.

- Anna Iannotti (Mount Anthony Union (VT) 2018) struck for a game & season high 19 points in their 58-52 overtime triumph over Schenectady, including a 3-point play that put the game on ice. She added 7 rebounds.

- Belle Kranbuhl (Adirondack 2020) contributed a double-double, finishing with 10 points, 10 rebounds, a pair of steals, and 6 blocks as the Wildcats remained unbeaten with a 49-29 victory over West Canada Valley. The 6'2" F is averaging 11.9 PPG, 8 RPG, 3.9 SPG, and 4.7 BPG.

- Grace Mahar (Mount Anthony Union (VT) 2020) finished in double digits on Tuesday, scoring 9 of her 11 after halftime in a 58-52 overtime W over Schenectady. That included the final two MAU field goals in regulation, the last one sending the game to overtime. She added 9 points & 13 rebounds the following day in a 33-30 setback at Fair Haven.

- Sam McKenna (Millbrook 2019) finished with 14 points, joining teammate Erin Fox in double digits, and spearheaded their staunch defensive effort with a handful of steals in their 56-38 victory over Red Hook Wednesday. The longtime varsity standout has been an important factor in the success of Millbrook, ranked #4 in the state in the latest NYSSWA Class C poll.

- Taylor Meacham (Berne-Knox-Westerlo 2020) contributed a team high 14 points in their 50-36 setback at Cambridge Wednesday. It looks like Taylor is back to full form after an injury-plagued start to her sophomore year, as she's averaging 15.6 PPG on the season for the 8-2 Bulldogs. 

- Allie Pacatte (Cobleskill-Richmondville 2018) finished with a game high 18 points on Tuesday in a 64-46 victory over Fonda-Fultonville, and they completed a 2-0 back-to-back with her contributing 11 points in a 59-45 W over Lansingburgh. The 4-year varsity player is averaging just under 12 PPG while running the show at the PG spot for the 7-4 Bulldogs.

- Lilly Phillips (Cambridge 2021) finished with 10 points in the Indians' 50-36 victory over Berne-Knox-Westerlo Wednesday. Lilly is averaging 11.1 PPG to provide a solid scoring punch alongside twin sister Sophie, and their prowess has helped Cambridge climb to #5 in the latest Class C NYSSWA state polls.

- Sophie Phillips (Cambridge 2021) hit 3 threes and led all scorers with 15 points in their 50-36 W over Berne-Knox-Westerlo Wednesday. She's averaging 14.3 PPG & has hit 16 threes for the 7-0 Indians, ranked #5 in the latest NYSSWA Class C polls.

- Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent 2020) struck for another double-double, finishing with 16 points & 12 rebounds in a 71-31 decision over Canastota. She's had 8 of them in 9 games this year, with the only outlier being a 9 point/12 rebound game. She's averaging 16.6 PPG, 14.8 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.6 SPG, and 3.4 BPG nearly midway through her sophomore season.

- Brianna Rozzi (Highland 2019) had the game of the night on Wednesday, with a milestone to go along with it. She dropped a game high 31 points - which apparently is also a career high - and flirted with a triple-double, adding 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals in a 63-35 W over Middletown. With this performance, she also became the newest member of the 1,000 point club. Another huge game in what has been a series of big games over the last few weeks for her.

- Maggie Schuermann (Cooperstown 2018) was one of four in double figures, finishing with 11 points in the Hawkeyes' 73-24 blowout decision over Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wednesday. The multi-year starting PG has been a steady presence, averaging 9 PPG, 6.3 RPG, & 3.3 APG over the last 4 games for the Hawkeyes. After a rocky start, they've won 5 of their last 6.

- Haley Steenland (Stamford 2018) dropped 22 points, which was tied for the game high, in their 62-14 beatdown of Roxbury Wednesday. The undefeated Indians head into Friday's showdown with rival South Kortright undefeated, and Haley enters the game with 998 career points.

- Rebecca Townes (Our Lady of Lourdes 2018) contributed 15 points in another strong outing for her crew, this one being a 93-33 beatdown of Scarsdale Wednesday.


2017 One-Day Events

- Chyna Butler (Nottingham 2018) had a solid game Wednesday, contributing 13 points in a big 57-49 victory over Baldwinsville.

- Lexi Emmi (Liverpool 2019) finished with 11 points in the Warriors' 52-43 setback to defending Section III Class AA champion West Genesee Wednesday. Emmi, a junior that has received strong D3 attention earlier than most in her class, is averaging 10 PPG over their last 3 games.

- Payton Graber (Schalmont 2022) tied for a team high 17 points in their 61-42 setback to Catholic Central Wednesday. She's experienced a very nice start statistically to her 8th grade season, already her 2nd full year at the varsity level. The PG is averaging 14.4 PPG for the 6-3 Sabres, has hit 16 threes, and is shooting 74% from the line.

- Ahniysha Jackson (Catholic Central 2020) knocked down 3 threes and led all scorers with 22 points in their 61-42 W over Schalmont. This was her 3rd game this year scoring 20+, and she's averaging 15.3 PPG (19 threes) for the 7-3 Crusaders.

- Alana Kornaker (Wayne 2018) finished with a game high 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists on Wednesday as they grabbed a 58-56 W over Newark.

- Cassidy Kotary (Holland Patent 2019) finished 2017 with a strong game, and she started 2018 with another one. She finished with 16 points, tying for the game high, and added 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals in their 71-31 W over Canastota.

- Meaghan Perrino (Cooperstown 2018) had herself a night on Wednesday, as she outscored the opposition on her own. She finished with a game and career high 25 points (3 threes), and they beat Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville 73-24.

- Lexie Roe (Fayetteville-Manlius 2021) was one of two Hornets in double digits Wednesday - she hit a pair of threes and finished with 10 points in a 48-20 blowout decision over Henninger.

- Mackenzie Smith (West Genesee 2019) contributed 11 points in a balanced effort as her team grabbed a 52-43 W over Liverpool Wednesday. The longtime standout is one of the most highly recruited 2019s in upstate NY, and her game has backed that up this season as she's averaged 14.1 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 6.4 APG, and 4 SPG.

- Madison Smith (West Genesee 2019) finished with 15 points in their 52-43 victory over a tough Liverpool squad Wednesday. Madison has emerged as one of Section III's top players this year, and she's averaging 16.7 PPG over the Wildcats' last 6 games.

- Emily Vallee (Schuylerville 2018) hit for a game high 23 points on Wednesday in their 62-53 victory over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. Once again, Emily (18.6 PPG) is among the scoring leaders in Section II, and she's averaged 20.5 per game over the last 4. After a slow start, Schuylerville has won 2 of their last 3.

- Aliyah Wright (Colonie 2019) contributed 11 points in Wednesday's 49-43 setback to Saratoga Springs. The scoring output is right at the 4-year varsity starter's average for a balanced team that has experienced success so far this season, despite the result of this game.


ESTers of Past Years

- 2015/2016 EST summer leaguer Ava Fitzmaurice (Greenville 2018) dropped a game high 25 points in Wednesday's 68-46 triumph over Albany Leadership. At 23.2 PPG & 27 threes made, she's been among the top couple scorers & perimeter shooters in Section II. She also still holds a share of the EST record for most threes made in a game. The multi-sport standout who missed 2017 EST to concentrate on softball is headed to New Haven next year to continue her career on the diamond.
